Your hotel is located in idyllic Casateia, not far from the historical town of Vipiteno, which is a must on every South Tyrol itinerary. A stroll through the lovely side streets of Vipiteno, with its many shops, historical buildings and the warm nature of its inhabitants, is a pleasure for all the family.
Let us tell you a little bit about the many sights near our hotel.
The John of Nepomuk monument was constructed to honour the patron saint after the end of the floodings in 1739. The Vipiteno town hall was built from 1468 to 1472. Its magnificent inner court yard is well-known for its display of a Roman milestone as well as the Stone of Mithras. Another beautiful building is Heilig Geist church, which was built in 1399 and boasts the frescoes of the South Tyrolean painter Hans of Bruneco. The Vipiteno parish church dates back to the late Gothic period and is well worth a visit, as well as the municipal museum which contains a late-Gothic wing altar by Hans Multscher from 1459. The same building displays artefacts from the Teutonic order, as well as exhibits from various guilds.
The true landmark of the town, which was inhabited by the prominent Fugger family for a while, is the 46-metre Zwölferturm tower, which separates the Old Town from the newer parts. Like the town hall, it was constructed in the period between 1468 and 1472.
A hike up to Josef’s Hut is an unforgettable experience for all our guests! Once per week the staff at our hotel take their guests on a beautiful walk up to the hut, past soft green Alpine meadows, surrounded by the lovely scents of the flowers and the peace and quiet of the mountains.
Rest assured that you will be warmly welcomed at the hut with a traditional snack or barbecue!
